Despite the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, the spirit of Indian travellers remains undeterred. Just three days after the tragic incident, tourists have begun returning to the popular hill town.Over the past few days, Pahalgam had turned into a ghost town, with hotels deserted and streets unusually quiet. But signs of revival have begun to emerge. On Friday, a group of tourists arrived in the town, bringing with them a sense of hope and normalcy.
Locals, eager to revive the town’s tourism-dependent economy, were seen filming reels of the visiting group to share on social media, aiming to spread the message that Pahalgam is once again welcoming visitors.
Speaking to CNN-News18, one tourist shared, “We were a bit anxious after the attacks. Our family members even advised us against coming. But the administration gave the go-ahead today, so we decided to make the trip.”Another traveller said, “Initially, we were hesitant and thought of skipping Pahalgam. But the locals encouraged us, assuring that it’s safe and we’d enjoy our stay. That gave us the confidence to come.”
