The Space Needle is one of the most photographed landmarks in the world and was built for the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle. Standing at 605 feet, the tower was designed to reflect ‘humanity’s hopes for the Space Age’. It opened to the public in April 1962. Its unique ‘top house’ sits at 520 feet, allowing visitors to enjoy a 360-degree view of the city.
People can see downtown Seattle, Mount Rainier, Puget Sound and the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges from the tower.
Additionally, the Indian Independence Day was also celebrated at the iconic World Trade Center, Grand Central Terminal, Niagara Falls and the Kosciuszko Bridge, which were illuminated in the Indian tricolour.
