Post the discussion, both leaders will hold a much-anticipated joint press conference to brief about the talks.

Earlier, the US President Trump had expressed the belief that the Russian leader Putin could likely make a deal about the war in Ukraine. “I believe now, he’s convinced that he’s going to make a deal. He’s going to make a deal. I think he’s going to, and we’re going to find out,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News Radio’s “The Brian Kilmeade Show.”
Putin has also backed the sentiment with a statement that the US was making “sincere efforts” to end the war in Ukraine and suggested Moscow and Washington could agree on a nuclear arms deal as part of a broader push to strengthen peace.
However, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not be present at the Friday event. The Ukrainian leader has warned that decisions made in his absence might be of little value. Oleksandr Merezhko, a Ukrainian MP and chair of the country’s parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, also commented about not having “high expectations” from the Alaska summit, BBC reported.
