A US Navy F-35 fighter jet crashed in central California, as per the statement released by the Navy.The incident occurred around 6:30 pm near Naval Air Station Lemoore, located about 40 miles southwest of Fresno.

The pilot safely ejected from the jet before the crash. He has been taken to a nearby hospital with only minor injuries.Officials from NAS Lemoore said no additional personnel were affected in the crash.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, CNN reported.
Reports said the aircraft was reportedly forced to carry out an emergency landing, before being engulfed in flames.
Police, fire, and rescue teams are on the accident site.
