US President Donald Trump to make an announcement from Oval Office today

Amid the ongoing plume of uncertainty of tariffs, Donald Trump is expected to make an announcement from the Oval Office in the White House.According to Bloomberg, which cited a White House source, Trump will make an announcement at 14:00 hours Eastern Time or 23:30 IST.

This comes after US Labour Day, which was observed on September 1.

This report of an announcement comes amid major developments that have either enveloped the Trump presidency or have emerged from Trump’s policies. On one hand, Trump’s efforts to bring about peace between Russia and Ukraine have gone nowhere. The apparent closeness in ties between India, China and Russia at the SCO Summit is also seen as an issue that Trump could take notice of.Furthermore, the 50% tariff on India continues to be in force, leading to further uncertainty between allies, whose ties have been strained just in the past fortnight.
