Russian First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin has said that American sanctions have introduced uncertainty in the energy sector, where projects typically have long lead times. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of India Energy Week (IEW) 2025 in New Delhi, he described the United States’ actions as rendering international agreements virtually void and creating a lack of security for investments.
Describing the American sanctions as detrimental to the global economy, Sorokin said that tens of billions of dollars have been taken away from developing economies, increasing the cost of capital for everyone in the industry.
While stating that Russia possesses the necessary technology to develop resources, he indicated that energy supplies will continue to countries with which Russia has bilateral relations.ALSO READ: The EU vows that US tariffs ‘will not go unanswered’ and will trigger tough countermeasures
