Supermarket chain Vishal mega mart Ltd on Friday (January 31) reported a 28% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit at ₹262.7 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal compared to ₹205.3 crore in the same period in FY24.

Revenue from operations was up 19.5% to ₹3,136 crore against ₹2,623.5 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal.
At the operating level, EBITDA climbed 18.3% to ₹505 crore over ₹427 crore in the Q3 FY24. The EBITDA margin stood at 16.1% in the reporting quarter against 16.3% in the year-ago quarter. EBITDA is earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation.

Vishal Mega Mart, as of December 31, 2024, operates a total of 668 stores spread across 432 cities, with a cumulative retail area of approximately 11.8 million square feet.
For the nine months ended December 2024, Vishal Mega Mart’s revenue distribution was as follows: 45% came from apparel, 28% from general merchandise, and 27% from FMCG. Further, Vishal Mega Mart has a loyal consumer base, which had grown to approximately 141 million as of December 31, 2024.
Gunender Kapur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Despite subdued demand conditions in the consumer industry, we delivered a robust financial performance, achieving revenue growth of 19.5% in Q3FY25 and 19.4% in 9MFY25 taking the revenue from operations to ₹31,359 million and ₹81,685 million respectively. Our profit after tax grew by 27.9% in Q3FY25 to ₹ 2,627 million and by 29.0% in 9MFY25 to ₹5,169 million.”

The results came after the close of the market hours. Shares of Vishal Mega Mart Ltd ended at ₹108.00, up by ₹1.60, or 1.50%, on the BSE.
