Cars honked as they passed the crowd, which displayed signs featuring Musk’s image, the Reuters reported. The billionaire CEO was appointed by President Donald Trump to oversee cuts to the federal government, which employs thousands in the nation’s capital.Musk leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has cut over 100,000 jobs from a federal civilian workforce of more than 2 million. The department has also pushed for a freeze on foreign aid and the cancellation of programs and contracts.

According to Reuters, demonstrations were also held in Los Angeles and internationally, including Toronto, where some Canadians pledged to boycott US goods following new tariffs on Canadian products.
Meanwhile, Tesla owners have been trading in their vehicles at record rates this month, according to Edmunds data. The company’s stock has dropped nearly 50% since January after initially surging following Trump’s election, with investors optimistic about relaxed regulations for Tesla’s robotaxi rollout.
The Trump administration reported this week that arsonists have targeted Tesla dealerships and charging stations, though no violence was reported at Saturday’s protest.
