Visuals from the site showed the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara almost fully inundated. The Kartarpur Corridor connecting the shrine to India is also flooded.

In a post on X, the Government of Punjab, Pakistan, said, “On the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the PDMA Punjab has provided additional rescue relief equipment for Narowal.”

It also announced that Punjab is facing a flood situation due to extremely high water levels in the Ravi, Chenab and Satluj rivers.
“At Kot Naina on the Ravi River, 230,000 cusecs of water are entering. From which 229,000 cusecs from Siphon, 72,000 cusecs, and from Shahdara, 71,000 cusecs of water are passing. The flow of water at Head Marala in the Chenab River has reached 922,000 cusecs. In the Ravi River today, the water surge from Shahdara will pass up to 150,000 cusecs,” it added.

Heavy rainfall in the country has prompted authorities to evacuate over 200,000 people from flood-prone areas. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan issued a warning about rising water levels in the Sutlej River and potential flooding.
According to ARY News, officials have announced that schools in the flood-hit district of Punjab province will be closed for an indefinite period. All public and private schools in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujarat, and Pasrur will be closed beginning August 27 until further notice, officials said.
On the Indian side, a breach in the Dhussi embankment near Dera Baba Nanak has submerged several villages in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, allowing water from the Ravi River to flood thousands of acres of farmland and homes.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced all schools in the state will be closed from August 27 to 30 as IMD has predicted heavy rains.
