This comes after the electric car company faced backlash, including vandalism of its cars and showrooms, following Musk’s public backing of the President and his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).In an interview with Bloomberg’s Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, Musk condemned violent protests and people burning his effigy, saying many of them deserved to be imprisoned. “Well, it’s certainly fine to object to political things, but it’s not fine to resort to violence and hanging someone in effigy and death threats,” he added.
Then he pointed to the camera and said, “We’re coming for you.”
Musk plans to stay with Tesla for at least five more years and is seeking a new pay package that would grant him greater control over the company.
The tech billionaire, who poured over $290 million into the 2024 election to support Trump and Republicans, further mentioned that he would reduce his political spending: “I think I’ve done enough.”
“If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I don’t currently see a reason.”
Tesla has been under significant pressure as Musk worked with Trump as part of the DOGE, notably during the latter’s campaign of cuts across the US federal government.
