Gor will come to New Delhi replacing Eric Garcetti, a Democrat appointee who returned to California in January after Donald Trump took over presidency in January.Other nominees were Paul Kapur of California as Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs, and Anjani Sinha of Florida as Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore.
Who is Sergio Gor?
In August, Trump had nominated Gor to be the next US Ambassador to India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Describing Gor as a “great friend, who has been at my side for many years”, Trump had said that “for the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my Agenda and help us Make America Great Again. Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador.”
Gor worked as Director of Presidential Personnel recently.
Thanking Trump for his nomination, Gor said it will be his honour to represent the US. “Beyond grateful to Donald Trump for his incredible trust and confidence in nominating me to the be his next US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs! Nothing has made me prouder than to serve the American people through the great work of this Administration! Our White House has achieved historic results in Making America Great Again! It will be the honor of my life to represent the United States!” Gor had tweeted.
Gor graduated from The George Washington University and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Affairs in 2008. He was President for The George Washington University’s Chapter in the Young America’s Foundation. He is currently a member of the Knights of Malta and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
He has worked in multiple government organisations in the field of communications.
He has served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Foreign Policy Advisor, and Senior Political Ade for the US Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. He served as Chief Executive Officer for Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump, Jr. and Chief Executive Officer for Right for America Super PAC.
