Another accountMAGA NATIONwhich describes itself as ‘America First,’ is listed as being based in a non-European Union country in Eastern Europe.A now-deleted account with Trump Trump-inspired username ‘Trump Is My President’ originated from Macedonia. Another account, @American, that features a profile image of a bald eagle flying above an American flag, appears to be based in Pakistan.

Some users cited an unofficial account that claimed to represent the Democratic Socialists of America and is apparently based in Portugal. On the other hand, the political party’s real account is verified and has more than 300,000 followers.

X also included a notice that appeared when a user’s location was clicked on. “The country or region that an account is based in can be impacted by recent travel or temporary relocation. This data may not be accurate and can change periodically.”
Meanwhile, a major controversy arose on Friday, when screenshots and screen recordings stating that the US Department of Homeland Security account was labelled as being based in Israel immediately went viral.

In response to the post, DHS initially shared a meme-like image of Trump, looking stunned.
Later on Sunday, it followed up with an official denial stating, “I can’t believe we have to say this, but this account has only ever been run and operated from the United States.”
“Screenshots are easy to forge, videos are easy to manipulate. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” it added. However, on Sunday morning, the location information on the page was showing as ‘United States.’

Announcing the new feature, Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, posted on Saturday that the new feature was an important step “to securing the integrity of the global town square.”

Another account, ‘Indian Muslim Archive’ (“Rustum_0″), which shares historical claims and commentary, also reflected ‘South Asia’ and later changed the visible label to ‘India.’
