Air India extends suspension of Tel Aviv flights until May 25

Date:

Air India has announced an extension of its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 25, 2025, citing ongoing security concerns in the region following a missile attack earlier this month. The Tata Group owned carrier, which is the only Indian airline operating direct flights between Delhi and the Israeli city, had initially suspended operations on May 4 after a missile strike occurred near Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The suspension was first extended to May 6, then to May 8, and has now been extended until May 25. In a statement issued on social media platform X, the airline said: “Our flights to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended till 25th May 2025. Customers holding valid tickets for travel till 25th May 2025 will be offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling charges or a full refund for cancellations.”

Air India typically operates five non-stop flights per week on the Delhi–Tel Aviv route. The service has been popular among both business and leisure travellers, as well as members of the Indian diaspora with connections to Israel. Also read | IndiGo suspends Almaty, Tashkent Flights until June 14 over Pak airspace restrictions

Our flights to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended till 25th May 2025. Customers holding valid tickets for travel till 25th May 2025 will be offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling charges or a full refund for cancellations.

The suspension follows a 4 May incident in which an Air India flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv had to be diverted to Abu Dhabi due to missile activity near the Israeli capital’s airport. While no passengers were harmed, the event prompted an immediate review of the airline’s operations in the region.

The carrier has advised passengers to monitor updates through its official communication channels and contact customer service for rebooking or refund assistance.
