At least 6 killed, 80 injured as Russia launched over 400 drones and 40 missiles in Ukraine

Date:

Russia launched its largest air attack against Ukraine in early hours of Friday, June 6, leaving at least 6 dead and 80 injured, Reuters reported. This marked the largest air attack since Russia launched a full-scale invasion against Ukraine in February 2022.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing across Ukraine in the aftermath of more than 400 drones and over 40 missile attack by Russia.

The attack comes two days after US President Donald Trump announced that Russia intends to attack Ukraine after 75-minute call with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. Putin had mentioned that the Kremlin is ‘obligated’ to respond to Ukraine’s attack on Russian airfield last weekend.

Soon after Russia’s attack, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for a ceasefire and for world leaders to put pressure on Russia to stop the attacks.

“Unfortunately, not everyone in the world condemns such attacks. This is exactly what Putin exploits. He is buying himself time to keep waging war,” he said on social media platform X.

“The Russians constantly try to drive wedges into the unity of the world in order to prevent stronger pressure for their war. We must clearly see the task at hand. Diplomacy must work, security guarantees must be ensured, and peace must be established,” he wrote.
