Vedanta Q2 Update: Record alumina and aluminum output; Zinc India logs best-ever quarter

Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Ltd on Saturday (October 4) reported operational performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2025. The company achieved its highest-ever quarterly and half-yearly alumina production at the Lanjigarh refinery, with output up 31% year-on-year (YoY), at 653 kt. Aluminium production also hit a record at 617 kt, up 1% year-on-year, driven by enhanced operational efficiency.Zinc India recorded its highest-ever second-quarter mined metal production at 258 kt, up 1% YoY, and half-year output at 523 kt. Refined zinc production rose 2% YoY to 202 kt, while refined lead fell 29% YoY due to lower pyro plant availability. The saleable silver stood at 144 tonnes, down 22% YoY, in line with lead volumes.

Zinc International reported 60 kt mined metal, a 38% YoY increase, led by higher milled tonnes and lead grades at Gamsberg, where output jumped 54% YoY. In the iron ore segment, saleable ore production stood at 1.1 million tonnes, down 19% YoY, while pig iron production reached a record 238 kt, up 26% YoY, following successful debottlenecking of the blast furnace.

In steel, finished production stood at 274 kt, down 8% YoY, as maintenance impacted one furnace. Billet production increased 43% YoY to 232 kt, while TMT bar output rose 18% YoY to 100 kt.

At FACOR, ore production grew 24% YoY to 47 kt, though ferro-chrome production fell 28% YoY due to a planned furnace shutdown. Copper cathode output stood at 40 kt, down 3% YoY on temporary raw material constraints. In the power division, total sales were 4,331 million units, down 2% YoY. The Meenakshi 1000 MW and Athena 600 MW plants are now fully operational. TSPL maintained 90% availability, ensuring steady revenue flow.

On Friday (October 4), shares of Vedanta Ltd ended at ₹470.80, up by ₹6.05, or 1.30%, on the BSE.
