Attack on Putin? Limousine tied to Russian President erupts in flames in Moscow

Date:

One of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s luxury Aurus limousines caught fire after an explosion near the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters in Moscow. The £275,000 vehicle was engulfed in flames, prompting bystanders—some rushing from nearby bars—to attempt to extinguish the fire before emergency services arrived.Footage circulating online shows the fire spreading from the engine to the vehicle’s interior, completely consuming the limousine.

According to reports, the limo is managed by the Presidential Property Department, which oversees transport for Russia’s leadership. It remains unclear who was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Zelensky suggests Putin’s death could end war

The explosion comes amid renewed speculation about Putin’s health, following recent remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Speaking to European journalists in Paris on March 26, Zelensky claimed that Putin “will die soon” and suggested that his demise could bring an end to the ongoing war.

The Kyiv Independent reported his comments, which align with growing discussions about the Russian leader’s condition.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022, has led to intense fighting along a 1,000-km (621-mile) frontline. Moscow currently occupies around 20% of Ukraine’s territory, or roughly 113,000 square kilometres.

In recent months, Russia has ramped up attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure using missiles and drones, while Kyiv has targeted Russian oil and gas facilities in retaliation.
