Bajaj Auto reports cyberattack on company systems

Bajaj Auto Ltd on Tuesday disclosed that it had experienced a cybersecurity incident involving a ransomware attack that affected the systems of the company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Technology Ltd (BATL).The company said the incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. IST on June 23. Following the detection of the attack, its technical team, along with cybersecurity experts and management, initiated precautionary measures and response protocols to mitigate the impact.

Bajaj Auto said the actions taken have been successful based on the information currently available.
The company added that the incident has been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The disclosure was made under SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations.In a separate development, Bajaj Auto on June 18 fixed June 24, 2026, as the record date for its ₹5,633 crore share buyback, determining the shareholders eligible to participate in the offer.

The buyback was approved by the company’s Board of Directors on May 6, 2026, and subsequently by shareholders on June 18, 2026. Under the buyback, Bajaj Auto will repurchase up to 46.94 lakh fully paid-up equity shares with a face value of ₹10 each at a price of ₹12,000 per share, payable in cash.

The total buyback size is up to ₹5,633 crore, excluding transaction costs such as brokerage charges, taxes, filing fees, advisory and legal expenses, publication costs, printing and dispatch expenses, and other related costs.

Shares of Bajaj Auto ended 2.36% lower at ₹9,950 on the NSE on Tuesday, down ₹241 from the previous close.
