Twelve people arrested over Hindu man’s lynching
Earlier on Sunday, 12 people were arrested in connection with the lynching of the Hindu man, according to The Daily Star newspaper.To condemn the mob lynching of Das and the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other Hindu organisations on Tuesday protested near the Bangladesh High Commission. In the visuals shared online, protesters were seen breaking barricades and clashing with police. To monitor and control the situation, security was beefed up near the commission in the national capital.

Bangladesh summons Indian High Commissioner
Bangladesh described the recent demonstrations outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi as ‘unjustified’ in a notification summoning Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma.
“The miscreants were allowed to carry out their activities right outside the perimeters of the High Commission, creating panic among the personnel inside the complex. The High Commission was not given advance information about this organized event. We have, however, noted the commitment of the Government of India to ensure the safety and security of all Bangladesh diplomatic posts in India,” according to a Bangladesh government release.
Kothapet Protests
On Tuesday, many Hindu organisations in Hyderabad, led by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), demonstrated in Kothapet to condemn Bangladesh’s continued violence against minorities.
According to Shashidhar, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) National spokesperson, “Atrocities are being done against Hindus in Bangladesh. The government of India should take strict action for the protection of Hindus in Bangladesh. Bangladesh infiltrators and Rohingyas in large numbers are living in Bhagya Nagar. If the state government doesn’t take any action, then VHP will announce an action.”
Bangladesh High Commission stops visa services
The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Monday suspended all consular and visa services until further notice. In a notice, the Bangladesh High Commission said, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, all consular and visa services from the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi are temporarily suspended until further notice. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.”

Before this, India suspended visa operations at the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Chittagong due to a security issue. “Due to a recent security incident at AHCI Chittagong, Indian visa operations at IVAC Chittagong will remain suspended from 21/12/2025 until further notice,” according to IVAC.
Congress holds a protest in Kolkata
On Monday, Congress workers staged a protest against the atrocities on minorities in the neighbouring country in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata.
Violence unfolded at Bangladesh media offices
For the first time in its history, Bangladesh’s leading daily Prothom Hello was forced to suspend its print edition on Friday, after a violent mob attacked its Dhaka office. The unrest was triggered by the death of Hadi, who succumbed to gunshot wounds on December 18. Alongside the print suspension, the outlet’s online version was offline for approximately 17 hours. Another major newspaper, The Daily Starwas also similarly targeted.
