Budget 2025 expectations LIVE updates: President Droupadi Murmu will address the Houses of Parliament assembled in the Lok Sabha chamber on Friday (January 31) – marking the start of the Budget Session – and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the General Budget on Saturday (February 1).
The Finance Minister will table the Economic Survey on Friday when Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will convene briefly after the President’s address.
Lok Sabha will discuss the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address on February 3-4, while Rajya Sabha has allocated three days, with PM Modi expected to reply on February 6.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will meet party leaders on January 30 for smooth session functioning. The first part of the Budget Session will have nine sittings from January 31 to February 13.
Parliament will recess on February 13 to review budget proposals and reconvene on March 10 to discuss ministry grants and finalise the budget. The session, spanning 27 sittings, will conclude on April 4.
