CESC arm gets go-ahead for ₹4,500-cr Odisha solar and battery plant

CESC Ltd’s subsidiary, CESC Green Power Ltd, has received an in-principle approval from the High-Level Clearance Authority of the Odisha government to establish a large-scale renewable manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal district.The project, worth about ₹4,500 crore, will be developed in three phases and include a 3GW solar cell unit, a 3GW solar module unit, a 5GWh battery cell and pack facility, and a 60 MW captive power plant.

Q2 results

Last month, CESC Ltd reported strong figures for the second quarter ended September 2025, posting a 20.4% year-on-year rise in net profit at ₹425 crore compared to ₹353 crore a year ago.The company’s revenue grew 12% to ₹5,267 crore, while EBITDA increased 18.4% to ₹1,061 crore, with margins improving to 20.1%.

The board also announced an interim dividend of ₹6 per equity share (600% of the paid-up equity capital).

Shares of CESC Ltd ended higher on Thursday, November 13, up 0.16% at ₹172.11 on the NSE.
