A captivating art exhibition by renowned Singaporean artist Kumari Nahappan has opened in New Delhi, celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore. Titled “Chromatic Currents”, the show is being hosted at Pristine Contemporary and will run until October 30, 2025. The exclusive opening reception on September 12 drew diplomats, cultural figures and art enthusiasts, who experienced some of Nahappan’s most acclaimed works.Organised by the Singapore High Commission, the exhibition is part of a broader cultural diplomacy effort to highlight the ties shared between both nations. First Secretary (Political) Zacchaeus Lim said, “The Singapore High Commission in New Delhi is pleased to support this exhibition as part of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore in 2025. Chromatic Currents celebrates the shared colours and traditions of our region, reminding us that art is a bridge connecting communities across borders, especially through the deep historical and people-to-people ties between our two nations.”

The exhibition follows the visit of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to India, during which both sides outlined a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation across multiple sectors.
Areas identified during deliberations include advanced manufacturing, green shipping, skilling, civil nuclear energy, urban water management, artificial intelligence and digital technologies. An art display at the Chromatic Currents exhibition in New Delhi.The two countries also agreed to review the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement with ASEAN, signalling further economic integration.As part of the visit, the two prime ministers virtually inaugurated a container terminal in Maharashtra, backed by over $1 billion in investment from the Port of Singapore Authority. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted Singapore’s position as India’s largest trade partner in South-East Asia and acknowledged its continued role as the biggest source of foreign direct investment for the seventh consecutive year, with inflows of about $15 billion in 2024-25. He stressed on the importance of strengthening defence ties and people-to-people links.Prime Minister Modi expressed appreciation to Singapore for its solidarity following the Pahalgam terror attack in April, noting that both countries share concerns about terrorism and the duty of like-minded nations to fight it together.Against this backdrop, the cultural initiative and the strategic commitments reached during the visit highlight the breadth of the India-Singapore partnership, combining shared heritage with a forward-looking vision for growth.(Edited by : Jerome Anthony)
