CONCOR awards ₹175 crore contract to Braithwaite for 9 container rakes to boost rail logistics

Container Corporation of India Limited said on Wednesday, April 15, that it has awarded a contract worth ₹175.36 crore (excluding GST) to Braithwaite & Co Ltd for the manufacture and supply of nine BLSS (Spine Car) rakes.

The company said that the order will be executed on a turnkey basis, with supplies scheduled to be completed by February 28, 2027. The delivery plan includes a minimum supply of two rakes per month over the execution period.

The company said the contract pertains to strengthening rail logistics infrastructure through addition of specialised container rakes.

Earlier, on Feb 22, the company had informed that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. (VISL) for the development of a Container Freight Station (CFS) near the upcoming Vizhinjam International Seaport.

Under the said MoU, the land for development of above-mentioned CFS will be provided by VISL on mutually agreed terms and both organisations intend to jointly work on developing the said CFS which is expected to have facilities such as Customs-bonded area, warehouse, container handling and storage yards, import-export cargo handling facilities, weighbridges and other such related facilities for seamless end-to-end services to the customers, according to the exchange filing.

Shares of Container Corporation of India Limited ended higher on the NSE, closing at ₹488.00, up ₹6.45 or 1.34% for the session.
