This will be Christodoulides’ first visit to India in his current role as President of Cyprus.
The MEA said the visit assumes added significance as Cyprus currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU), at a time when India and the EU are working towards concluding a Free Trade Agreement by early 2027.
During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Christodoulides are expected to hold discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation across areas including trade, investment, technology, education, culture, mobility, defence and security, artificial intelligence, fintech, innovation and research.The two sides are also expected to exchange views on regional and global developments, as well as cooperation in multilateral forums.
The Cypriot President will also meet President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during the visit.
In addition, Christodoulides will participate in a business forum in Mumbai aimed at strengthening commercial engagement between companies from both countries.
India and Cyprus are set to mark 65 years of diplomatic relations on February 10, 2027.
