With just over a week left for the Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress on Wednesday (January 29) launched its manifesto and promised a monthly grant of ₹2,500 to women, free electricity up to 300 units and much more.
The grand old party has promised to conduct a caste census and set up a ministry for Purvanchalis if it is voted to power in the national capital.
The manifesto, which has been divided into 22 focus areas, was unveiled by Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav. He was flanked by Congress communications incharge Jairam Ramesh.

Here are the highlights from the Congress’s manifesto:
- A monthly grant of ₹2,500 to women
- Caste census
- Ministry for Purvanchalis
- Free electricity up to 300 units
- LPG cylinders at ₹500
- Free health insurance of up to ₹25 lakh
- Free ration kits
- Financial assistance of ₹8,500 per month for one year to the educated unemployed youth
- 100 Indira canteens that would offer meals at ₹5.
Delhi goes to polls on February 5. The results will be announced on February 8.
The national capital is witnessing an intense battle between the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress.
