Donald Trump’s Gaza Riviera: Redevelopment plan sees ‘voluntary relocation’ of millions of Palestinians

Date:

It was earlier this year when Donald Trump floated the idea of taking over the war-torn, famine-stricken Gaza and turning it into a tourist resort, or what is being called the ‘Gaza Riviera’.In a recent development in the matter, a 38-page document first reported by the Washington Post carries an outline of Trump’s vision for a post-war Gaza.

As per a report from CNBC International, the document invokes the idea of ‘voluntary relocation’ of millions of Gazans/Palestinians. In addition, it also speaks about the deployment of AI to develop smart cities.

Another standout element of the plan also includes a manufacturing hub named after Tesla boss Elon Musk.According to the Washington Post, this plan was developed by some of the same Israelis behind the controversial U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The GHF has been accused by an international organisation of being responsible for the killing of Palestinians looking for aid from GHF sites.

The document looks to put Gaza under a US trusteeship for around ten years “until a reformed and deradicalised Palestinian Polity is ready to step into its shoes,”. The trust in charge will be called the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust, or GREAT Trust.

Over 60,000 have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip as a direct result of Israel’s military action, which is now increasingly taking the shape of an invasion, violating many international laws.

The plan’s authors assert that neither United States federal funds nor donations would be needed, and that both public and private sector investment would be used to fund what they refer to as “mega-projects,” which would range from luxury residences and beachside resorts to data centres and electric vehicle factories.
