Dow futures fall 100 points as Wall Street begins make or break week

US Stock Market Live: Futures on Wall Street have ticked lower on Sunday evening after reporting another week of gains, in what appears to be a swift rebound from US President Donald Trump’s tariff tantrums. Futures on the Dow Jones are down 120 points, while those on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are down 20 points and 75 points respectively. Although there has been no headway in the tariff talks, Trump has added to the confusion with contradictory statements yet again. Earlier in the week, he spoke of tariffs on China being too high, but later went on to say that he will not bring down tariffs on China until “they give us something.” On the other hand, China continues to deny that there have been no talks on tariffs with the US, even though Trump told the Time Magazine in an interview that Chinese President Xi Jinping called him but refused to divulge more details about the call. This is a make or break week for Wall Street as rest of the big tech firms, barring Nvidia report results, including Apple, Meta and Amazon. This week will also see reporting of the Q1 GDP data, which many fear will be in contraction. Non-farm payrolls, Core PCE inflation, the two key Fed gauges will also be reported this week ahead of the central bank’s policy decision on May 7. Watch this space for all the Live updates.
