The new stove uses an ethanol-water blend to generate cooking flames and is part of India’s broader push to reduce oil imports and expand biofuel use.1 Min ReadUnion Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled an indigenous ethanol-based cooking stove technology that he says can provide a cheaper alternative to LPG cylinders. Gadkari claims that the new ethanol-based stove technology could make cooking cheaper than commercial LPG cylinders, marking another major push in India’s growing biofuel mission while supporting India’s clean energy and biofuel ambitions.
Addressing a public event in Nagpur on May 25, the minister said that new stove technology uses a blend of ethanol and water to generate flames suitable for cooking.
