Shubman Gill has been left out of India’s 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, announced in Mumbai on Saturday, with Ishan Kishan earning a recall after his title-winning run with Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side, with Axar Patel appointed vice-captain after missing the final two T20Is against South Africa. Sanju Samson, who featured in the series decider, has been named as the second wicketkeeper alongside Kishan, and could slot back into the opening role alongside Abhishek Sharma following Gill’s omission.
Rinku Singh, remembered for hitting the winning runs in the Asia Cup final and being a standby during India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, has also found a place in the squad.
