Gujarat CM Patel woos Canadian Gujarati entrepreneurs for investment

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has invited Gujarati entrepreneurs from Canada to invest in their home state and participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027, saying Gujaratis can create an atmosphere of Gujarat wherever they live.Patel, who is on a visit to the US and Canada to invite global industrialists, investors and technology leaders for the summit, arrived in Toronto on Sunday after completing the US leg of his tour, according to an official release on Monday.He was given a traditional welcome at the Toronto airport by leaders of Gujarati communities and representatives of the Consulate General of India.Addressing a reception organised by Friends of Gujarat-Canada, Patel said Gujarat had emerged as the growth engine of India after two decades of uninterrupted development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”When Gujarat was carved out as a separate state from Maharashtra in 1960, even basic facilities such as roads, electricity and water were inadequate in villages. Gujarat has come a long way from that situation,” the chief minister said. Also read: Railways launches drive to clean station drinking-water tanks after CAG flags lapses He said Gujaratis could take pride in Modi, who hails from Gujarat, for improving India’s global standing as prime minister.Patel said Gujaratis had received strong cooperation and support in the Canadian economy and congratulated the community for its contribution.”The unique identity of a Gujarati is that he can create an atmosphere of Gujarat wherever he lives,” he said, according to the release.Highlighting the state’s industrial growth, Patel said six semiconductor plants have been started in Gujarat, and the success of previous editions of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit helped attract increasing investments.He urged Gujarati entrepreneurs settled in Canada to invest in Gujarat and ”repay the debt” of their motherland by contributing to its development. The chief minister also invited members of the Gujarati diaspora in Canada to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.Patel’s foreign tour, which began on August 17, is aimed at reaching out to global investors, industrialists and technology leaders, and inviting them to the summit. His visit is scheduled to conclude on August 24.
