Hero MotoCorp to invest another ₹1,000 crore in EV maker Ather Energy

Hero MotoCorp’s Committee of Directors has approved an additional investment of up to ₹10 billion in Ather Energy, its associate company, through the subscription of equity shares or other eligible securities representing equity shares or convertible into equity shares on a preferential allotment basis.The investment is subject to the receipt of necessary approvals, including those from Ather Energy’s board of directors and shareholders. The committee also approved the execution of related documents, including a binding expression of interest, required for the proposed investment.

Ather Energy is an existing associate company of Hero MotoCorp and is engaged in the design, manufacture, sale and servicing of electric two-wheelers. The company also operates charging infrastructure and is involved in the storage, distribution and management of electric power, including battery-based energy solutions. Ather reported a turnover of ₹3,671.76 crore for the year ended March 31, 2026.
Hero MotoCorp said the transaction involves the subscription of additional securities in Ather through a preferential issue. While Ather is a related party as an associate company, the transaction will be carried out on an arm’s length basis, and no promoter or promoter group entities of Hero MotoCorp have any interest in the additional investment.The investment will be made entirely in cash and is expected to be completed within 15 days of Ather receiving the last of the required approvals. Hero MotoCorp held a 29.48% stake in Ather on a fully diluted basis as of June 30, 2026. The post-investment shareholding will depend on the pricing of the preferential issue and any further issuance of securities approved by Ather’s board.

Hero MotoCorp shares closed 1.51% lower at ₹4,877.50 on the NSE.
