चांदी बाजार में चीन का प्रभुत्व खनन ताकत से नहीं बल्कि रिफाइनिंग पर उसके जबरदस्त नियंत्रण से है। लंदन बुलियन मार्केट एसोसिएशन (एलबीएमए) की वैश्विक ओवर-द-काउंटर ट्रेडिंग के लिए मान्यता प्राप्त रिफाइनरियों की सूची के अनुसार, चीन 27 सिल्वर रिफाइनरियों की मेजबानी करता है, इसके बाद जापान 13 के साथ है। यह इसे जर्मनी, कनाडा, भारत और स्विट्जरलैंड से बहुत आगे रखता है, जिनके पास केवल चार सुविधाएं हैं।
