IDFC FIRST Bank says ₹645 crore paid to clients in Chandigarh branch case

IDFC FIRST Bank on Tuesday (March 10) said it has paid a net principal amount of ₹645 crore to clients in connection with an incident at one of its branches in Chandigarh, higher than the bank’s earlier estimate of ₹590 crore.In an update to stock exchanges, the bank said the payout was ₹55 crore more than its initial estimate after receiving additional claims from clients.

The lender clarified that all the claims relate to the same incident linked to the Chandigarh branch and do not represent a new case. It added that there are no other pending claims related to the matter.
The bank said it has made the payments to the concerned clients in line with its approach of compensating customers and will continue to pursue action against the perpetrators to recover the dues.
It also noted that no new claims have been received from any other entity across the country since February 25, 2026.The bank said its total deposits remained stable at ₹2,92,381 crore as of February 28, 2026, compared with ₹2,91,133 crore as of December 31, 2025.

It added that the average liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) for the ongoing quarter until February 28 stood at 114%.

The lender said it expects deposits and loans to grow broadly in line with past trends.

Shares of IDFC FIRST Bank were trading at ₹66.80 on Tuesday (March 10), up ₹0.04, or 0.06%, in the latest session.
