India and England will play against each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in their semi-final fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday, starting 7:00 pm IST.While the weather appears to be pretty clear, with temperatures ranging around 31°C, the ICC has arranged sufficient cushion so that a fair result is produced even in the unlikely scenario of it turning out to be a rain-affected game.
If the game cannot complete on Thursday, then there is a reserve day on March 6 to complete the rest of the game. An additional 90 minutes of time is slotted to ensure that the encounter is rounded off on the original date of the fixture. The reserve day has an extra time allowed of two hours for the same.
For a result to ensure, both teams need to play at least 10 overs in their respective innings.After all these possibilities, if a result does not take occur, then the team that finished higher in their respective Super 8 groups would qualify for the semi-finals. In that case, England, who topped Group 2, would make the finals, as opposed to India, who finished second in Group 1.This is the third consecutive time that India and England are featuring in the T20 World Cup semi-finals.In 2022, the Three Lions had emerged victorious and subsequently clinched the title. In 2024, India triumphed over them, and eventually brought an end to their 11-year-long wait for an ICC trophy.So far in this tournament, England have won the Super 8 stage handsomely, winning all of their games against the likes of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
