Indian envoy to Shanghai discusses New Delhi-Beijing ties with Chinese scholars

Beijing: India’s Consul General Pratik Mathur has visited the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) and held comprehensive talks on a wide range of issues, including strengthening New Delhi-Beijing ties.The envoy engaged in a “rich exchange” with eminent Chinese scholars, Prof Shao Yuqun, Dr Xue Lei and Dr Su Liuqiang, the Consulate said in a post on X on Friday.

The meeting covered discussions on New Delhi’s vision during its historic BRICS presidency and shared perspectives on deepening India-China bilateral ties, it said.
Also, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to India, the resumption of strong people-to-people exchanges, including the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and the immense potential to expand cooperation in trade, technology, and tourism, apart from strengthening people-to-people exchanges was discussed, it said.”The meeting underscored the growing interest and commitment to strengthening academic, educational and diplomatic dialogues,” it said.
