An Indian citizen told ANI, “The situation is out of control there. We are from Assam and are returning from Nepal. It feels good. Jaan wapas aa gaya.”
Also, Nepali citizens were allowed to enter India if they have a medical or family emergency after a thorough check.

The student-led “Gen Z” protests in Nepal that began against a government ban on social media expanded into a larger campaign reflecting growing public criticism of the KP Sharma Oli dispensation and the country’s political elite over alleged corruption and apathy towards the common people.
Prime Minister Oli resigned in the face of violent protests for a second day, even as the ban on social media was lifted late on Monday night. The demonstrators stormed many government buildings and set the parliament and homes of several high-profile leaders ablaze, a day after 19 people died in violence.
India said it was closely monitoring the unfolding developments in Nepal. “We are closely monitoring the developments in Nepal since yesterday and are deeply saddened by the loss of many young lives,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that was issued before Oli’s resignation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. We also wish speedy recovery for those who were injured,” it said.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) that guards the 1751-km-long unfenced international front with Nepal has stepped up security across all its border posts and vulnerable points. A high alert has been sounded in seven districts of Uttar Pradesh bordering Nepal. All the field commanders of the SSB have been asked to be on the ground and maintain an enhanced vigil. “Operation Kavach” committees have also been activated to maintain strict surveillance over cross-border movement, PTI reported.
Vehicle movement through the Panitanki border had stopped since Monday afternoon. Police have also set up checkpoints and begun vehicle checks from early morning. Shops at Panitanki are shut, and strict checks were in place. More than 100 Indian truck drivers and many tourists are currently stuck at the border due to the disruption.
