Indian-origin Google engineering manager shot dead at Georgia home; husband arrested: Reports

An Indian-origin senior engineering manager at Google was allegedly shot dead at her home in Georgia’s Cobb County, according to local media reports.The victim, 57-year-old Sheetal Wrzesien, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside her residence in Smyrna after police responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 8 pm local time on Tuesday, Fox News reported, citing the Cobb County Police Department.

Emergency responders also found the couple’s 23-year-old son, Jason Wrzesien, outside the home with gunshot injuries. He was taken to a hospital, while Sheetal Wrzesien was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the reports.
Police arrested her husband, 56-year-old Kirk B Wrzesien. He has been charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.”I’ve seen him doing yard work. Really nice guy. Very social neighbour. It’s a terrible tragedy,” neighbour Peter Lee told Atlanta News First.

Another neighbour, Joanne Anderson, told the outlet she was “caught off guard” by the incident and initially thought someone in the neighbourhood had suffered a medical emergency.

Wrzesien reportedly held senior engineering leadership roles at Google and was most recently serving as Senior Director at GoTo Foods. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and no additional suspects are being sought.
