IndiGo names Aloke Singh as chief strategy officer ahead of CEO transition

Date:

India’s InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., which operates IndiGo, said on Monday, March 23, it has appointed Aloke Singh as chief strategy officer, as the airline prepares for a top-level rejig.

Singh will take up the role from April 6 and will lead long-term strategic planning and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, the company said in an exchange filing.

Singh brings more than three decades of experience in the aviation sector and was serving as the managing director of Air India Express until last week. Air India Express is Air India’s low-cost unit, where he worked for five years, overseeing operational improvements and expansion. He had also held senior roles at Air India and Oman Air.

At IndiGo, he will initially report to Managing Director Rahul Bhatia and later transition to reporting to the incoming chief executive once a successor is appointed after former CEO Pieter Elbers resigned two weeks ago.

The appointment comes as IndiGo reshuffles its senior management and prepares for changes in its leadership team following recent departures and role transitions at the top.

“Aloke brings an exceptional blend of strategic vision and operational depth,” Bhatia said in a statement, adding that his experience would support IndiGo’s next phase of growth.

Singh said he was joining at a “pivotal moment” for the airline as it looks to expand globally and strengthen operations.

The slew of changes comes months after the country’s largest airline by market share overcame one of the biggest crisis in its two-decade journey in December 2025.

Shares of the company ended at 3916.30 apiece, down 5.61% for the day.
