Infosys names Nitin Paranjpe vice chairman; Nandan Nilekani rules out succession move

IT major Infosys has appointed Nitin Paranjpe as the non-executive vice chairman of its board with immediate effect, strengthening its leadership structure at the board level.Paranjpe brings deep consumer and global boardroom experience, having served as non-executive chairman of Hindustan Unilever and vice chairman of Heineken. His elevation strengthens Infosys’ board as the IT sector recalibrates around AI-led growth.

“The Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Nitin Paranjpe as non-executive vice chairman of the Board with immediate effect,” Infosys said in a statement.
As vice chairman, Paranjpe will support the chairman in guiding the board and shaping the company’s strategic agenda.Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani welcomed the move, saying, “We are delighted to have Nitin in this position. His expertise has already made a significant impact on the Board, and we look forward to his continued leadership in this expanded role.”

Nilekani also clarified that there are no immediate plans for a leadership transition at the top. “I will continue as the chairman of the Board as long as necessary, and there is no plan for a chairman transition,” he said.

Ahead of the announcement, shares of Infosys Ltd closed at ₹1,182.60 on the NSE, up 1.29% for the day.
