Interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez visits Jamnagar refinery

Interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez visited the Jamnagar refinery during her high-level visit to India and highlighted its role in strengthening Venezuela’s energy sector.According to Venezuela’s Ministry of Communications and Information, Rodríguez visited the Jamnagar refinery, which she described as one of the largest oil refining complexes in the world and a key commercial destination for Venezuelan crude.

“ We visited the Jamnagar Refinery, the largest oil refining complex in the world and commercial destination of Venezuelan crude,” Rodríguez said.

She praised the refinery’s advanced technological capabilities, saying the facility reflects India’s strong level of technological and industrial development.

Rodríguez also emphasised the progress being made between India and Venezuela in the energy sector, noting that both countries are moving forward with energy complementarity.The visit took place as part of Rodríguez’s official engagement in India, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in the energy sector between the two nations.The Jamnagar refinery, highlighted during the visit, was described by Rodríguez as a major industrial facility that demonstrates India’s capabilities in oil refining and technology.She said the cooperation between India and Venezuela in the energy domain continues to advance, with both countries working towards greater collaboration.The Venezuelan interim president’s remarks underline the importance of energy ties between the two countries, particularly with Venezuela’s crude oil having a commercial connection with the Indian refining sector.The Ministry of Communications and Information of Venezuela shared details of Rodríguez’s refinery visit and her comments on India-Venezuela energy cooperation.First Published: Jun 6, 2026 9:17 PM IST
