Iran confirms death of IRGC Navy chief Tangsiri after Israeli strike

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri was killed in targeted air strikes by Israel, Iran confirmed on Monday, March 30, Reuters reported, citing Iranian media.Israel had announced last week that it had eliminated Tangsiri in what it described as a “precise and lethal operation” in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

“In a precise and lethal operation, the ​IDF ​eliminated ⁠the commander of the ​IRGC ​Navy, ⁠Tangsiri, along with senior naval ⁠command ​officials,” he reportedly said at the time.The killing marks a major escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, where multiple top Iranian military figures have been targeted in the month-long attacks from both sides since February 28.

Among the most high-profile killings was Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, alongside senior aides and security officials. Key military figures killed the same day included IRGC chief Mohammad Pakpour, Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, and armed forces chief Abdolrahim Mousavi.

Subsequent strikes through March have continued to hit senior ranks, including Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani, and multiple IRGC and Quds Force officials operating in Iran and Lebanon.
