Iran defends India, mocks Trump over ‘hell-holes’ remark: ‘Whenever you see, then speak’

Iran took a jibe at United States President Donald Trump after he shared a post on Truth Social that described India and China as “hell-holes”.The original remark, made by American radio host Michael Savage, criticised birthright citizenship laws by claiming immigrants bring families from “China, or India, or some other hell-hole on the planet.”

Soon after the post went viral, Iran publicly criticised and mocked the comments on social media. The Iranian Consulate General in Mumbai reacted by posting a video showcasing the cultural and geographical diversity of Maharashtra. The video highlighted scenes ranging from Mumbai’s vibrant city life to traditional festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, along with scenic landscapes across the state.
In a sharp remark on X (formerly Twitter), the consulate suggested that a visit to India could serve as a “cultural detox” for the US leader, adding a sarcastic caption urging him to experience the country before making such comments.Also Read: Iran US War Live Updates

“Maybe someone should book a one-way cultural detox for Mr Trump, it might just reduce the random bakwaas,” adding, “Kabhi India aa ke dekho, phir bolna (Speak when you come to India),” the consulate wrote.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Consulate General in Hyderabad also defended both nations, stating, “China and India are the cradles of Civilization.”

“In fact, the #hellhole is where its war-criminal president threatened to decimate the civilisation in Iran,” it added.

In another post, the consulate also praised India’s culture, food and diversity, reinforcing its stance.

“Things I loved in Mumbai? Chai with bun maska, vada pav, and pav bhaji that could fix a bad day in three bites. I believe in ‘Roti and Respect’, but stepping into South India… Bhai, that’s a whole different league; like India unlocked its ‘heaven mode’, trust me, it’s MORE beautiful,” it added.

India also responded strongly to the controversial remarks. The Ministry of External Affairs termed the comments “uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste.”

Without directly mentioning Trump, the MEA emphasised that they do not reflect the reality of India-US relations, which are built on mutual respect and shared interests.

Amid the backlash, the US Embassy in New Delhi issued a clarification, stating that Trump believes India is a “great” country.

“India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top,” Trump said, according to Christopher Elms, spokesperson for the US Embassy.
