Iran-Israel war: Kuwait says ‘several US military aircraft’ crashed, pilots safe

The Kuwait Ministry of Defence on Monday, March 2, said that “several” US military aircraft crashed in its territory, while adding that the pilots of the jets were “safe”.”The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence stated that several US military aircraft crashed this morning, confirming the complete safety of their crews,” the Kuwait Army’s General Staff Head Quarter’s official account said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

“He explained that the relevant authorities immediately initiated search and rescue procedures, whereby the crews were evacuated and transferred to the hospital to check on their health status and provide the necessary medical care, noting that their condition is stable,” the statement added.
The Kuwaiti Defence Ministry’s statement comes at a time when a video of a US F-15 fighter jet crashing is going viral on social media. Iran has claimed responsibility of “shooting down” the jet.Read more: Iran claims it shot down US F-15 fighter jet, video shows pilot ejecting in parachute

However, no official statement has been issued by the United States on the matter as of yet.

The conflict in the West Asia, started after the United States and Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran. The conflict that started has spiralled into a broader regional conflict as Iran has started retaliating with strikes on the US bases across Oman, Qatar, UAE among others.

Determining the cause of the US jets crashing: Kuwait

The Kuwait Army further stated that the cause of the US fighter jets crashing is being determined.

According to the Kuwait Army, the Defence Ministry spokesperson “affirmed” that the concerned authorities are “following up on the investigations to determine the causes of the incident”, calling for information to be obtained from its official sources.

“The official spokesperson added that direct coordination was conducted with the friendly US forces regarding the circumstances of the incident, and joint technical measures were taken,” the statement added.

The remarks hint a denial of Iran’s involvement in the matter.

Fire, smoke at US embassy in Kuwait

Meanwhile, fire and smoke were seen coming out from the compound of US Embassy in Kuwait on March 2, as per news agency the Associated Press (AP).

The fire was reportedly due to Iran’s attack. Alarms were heard in the region.

Earlier, the US had warned its citizens from going to the embassy and had advised them to and remain indoors and take cover. It said: “Do not come to the Embassy,” without elaborating, as per AP.
