Israel and Iran exchange fresh strikes | Israel said its forces carried out a new wave of airstrikes across Iran, including targets in the central city of Isfahan. In response, Iran launched missile attacks, with Israeli air defences intercepting projectiles. Medics reported at least two people were lightly injured in central Israel.
US claims major blow to Iran’s military capability | A top US military official stated that American forces have struck roughly two-thirds of Iran’s missile and drone production facilities, as well as a similar share of its naval production. According to the assessment, Iran’s missile and drone launch rates have dropped by nearly 90%, significantly weakening its operational capacity.Conflicting signals over peace talks | Diplomatic messaging remained inconsistent. The White House said talks with Iran remain “productive” and are based on a 15-point framework. US president Donald Trump claimed Iran is negotiating privately while publicly denying talks. While Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected negotiations, calling them a sign of “defeat.”
Economic impact deepens | Global markets continued to react to the prolonged conflict. Brent crude rose about 1% to $103.25 per barrel, and West Texas Intermediate climbed to $91.41. South Korea announced a $17 billion “wartime” supplementary budget to manage rising energy costs. Pakistan criticised US involvement, suggesting the conflict’s objectives may be shifting toward control of key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
