Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that about 95% of its operational sites across West Asia continue to function without disruption despite the ongoing geopolitical situation in the region, with only a small portion of projects impacted.Speaking on the company’s operations, Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President, L&T, said the company currently has 100 sites in operation across segments, of which roughly 95% are running on a “business as usual” basis, with no disruption.
The remaining 5% of sites have either been suspended or disrupted due to their proximity to sensitive locations such as army bases. In some cases, operations were paused as a precautionary measure, while in others, customers advised temporary suspension.
Sarma said the company’s immediate priorities remain the safety and security of its personnel and assets, with decisions being guided accordingly. He added that L&T has senior leadership teams based in the region and is in constant communication with staff, customers, government officials and other stakeholders to assess the situation on a daily basis.
While operations remain largely stable, the company flagged logistics and supply chain as key areas of concern. Sarma said there has been disruption in the movement of materials over the past two weeks, particularly supplies coming from China and Europe via shipping routes, with new material not being lifted. He noted that supplies sourced locally within countries such as Saudi Arabia and across GCC nations have not been affected, with road transportation continuing as usual. To address supply challenges, the company is exploring alternative logistics routes, including the use of ports in the Red Sea and Oman, followed by road transportation. Sarma said L&T is working on these solutions and expects to resolve the issues within the next two to three months, given existing inventory levels at project sites. He added that the company is taking a cautious approach towards deploying additional personnel in the region and is closely monitoring the evolving situation before making further decisions.Despite the broader geopolitical developments, Sarma said customer engagement, invoicing and banking operations remain unaffected, with payments continuing on schedule. Also Read: LNG crisis cuts urea production in India; Plants run below half capacity amid West Asia tensionsFirst Published: Mar 22, 2026 5:00 PM IST
