Lathika Pai sues Microsoft India for ₹35.3 crore, alleges hostile work environment and ‘constructive dismissal’

Date:

Lathika Pai, a former senior executive at Microsoft India, has filed a civil suit against the company, its global parent, and several senior officials, seeking ₹35.3 crore in damages. The case, initially filed in the Delhi High Court, has been transferred to a civil court in Bengaluru.

Pai, who served as Country Head for Venture Capital and Private Equity Partnerships at Microsoft India, alleges that she was forced to resign due to a hostile work environment, retaliatory actions, and violations of company policy—amounting to what she calls a “constructive dismissal.”

In her petition, Pai states that she was employed at Microsoft from July 2018 to October 2024. During her tenure, she led the ‘Highway to a 100 Unicorns’ initiative, launched in 2019 to support startups in Tier-2 cities. She claims that initial internal allegations regarding vendor favouritism and financial irregularities were investigated in 2019 and found to be baseless.
