The companies said the move would help ensure high operational readiness and availability for the Indian Air Force fleet, while reducing dependence on overseas support.
Embraer described the C-390 as a next-generation military transport aircraft with a payload capacity of up to 26 tonnes, capable of missions ranging from cargo and troop transport to medical evacuation and humanitarian operations. Beyond domestic requirements, Embraer is also evaluating the possibility of positioning India as a regional MRO hub for other C-390 operators.
