Iran-Israel-US war LIVE Updates: Iran has appointed Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader amid escalating hostilities involving Iran, Israel and the United States. The decision follows the death of the 86-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the supreme leader’s offices at the start of the conflict.

US President Donald Trump had earlier criticised the possibility of Mojtaba assuming leadership. “They are wasting their time. Khamenei’s son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment, he said, as per Axios.
