The vessel carrying the mortal remains of Indian sailor Nishanth Uirthanathan has berthed at Oman’s Duqm port, with local authorities set to complete disembarkation formalities. The Indian mission said it has coordinated all necessary arrangements to facilitate the process.

According to the ministry, Omani authorities are scheduled to board the vessel to complete the necessary procedures for the disembarkation of the mortal remains.
“The vessel MT Celestial carrying mortal remains of Nishanth Uirthanathan has now berthed at the Port of Duqm. Concerned Omani authorities are scheduled to board the vessel to complete the necessary procedures for disembarkation of the mortal remains,” the MEA said in a statement.
The ministry added that the Indian Mission in Oman has coordinated all requisite arrangements to facilitate the process at the port.The development comes amid ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to assist the families of seafarers affected by recent security incidents involving commercial vessels in the Gulf region.
Further arrangements for the repatriation of the mortal remains are expected to be undertaken after local procedures are completed by the Omani authorities.
