In the current policy scenario, oil demand is projected to rise to 113 million barrels per day by 2050, mainly due to its increased use in emerging markets and developing economies for road transport, petrochemical feedstocks, and aviation, according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) World Energy Outlook report for 2025.
