The company confirmed his departure in a statement, saying Liu would now pursue personal interests. OnePlus also said its India operations would continue under the current strategy, indicating that there would be no immediate changes to the local business.
“We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He moves on to pursue his personal passions, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours. OnePlus India operations continue with local strategy and business continuity ensured.”
Recent reports have suggested that OnePlus may be planning to scale down its presence in major markets such as the US, UK and parts of Europe. While there has been no official confirmation of a complete withdrawal, industry sources indicate the company could reduce its presence in select regions in the coming months. The timing of Liu’s departure has further fuelled these discussions. He was reportedly serving his notice period and is expected to return to China. Earlier reports also suggested that the company had attempted to retain him.

If OnePlus reduces its presence in markets such as the US, it could affect competition in the premium Android segment. Consumers in those regions may have fewer options, with companies such as Apple, Samsung and Google continuing to dominate.
In India, however, OnePlus has reiterated that its operations remain unchanged. The company said it will continue focusing on its current product line-up and market strategy, indicating stability in one of its key markets.
While executive exits are not unusual, the timing of this development has attracted attention because of the wider speculation about OnePlus’ future in global markets.
